It was a picture-perfect day at HC-One Wales’s Meadowlands Care Home in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, as residents embraced the beauty of the outdoors to celebrate World Photography Day on the 19
th August – led by the home’s very own photography enthusiast, Tudor Pritchard.
Armed with his camera and his signature creative eye, Tudor spent the afternoon strolling through the surrounding nature close to the home, capturing breathtaking images of flowers in bloom, trees gently swaying in the breeze, and golden summer light filtering through the leaves. His photographs serve as a heartfelt reminder of the joy found in the simple moments of life and the value of creativity and connection in later years.
Tudor took up photography as a hobby during his adulthood and found a passion for it. The care team strongly encourages Tudor to follow his passion and helps accommodate photography trips out for him when he wants to go on a photography trip. Tudor enjoys snapping photos of wildlife animals and nature. In particular, Tudor enjoys close up photography as it catches more details that can often be missed and overlooked. At the home, Tudor has even added a personal touch to his room at Meadowlands with framed photographs that he has taken hanging on the walls.
Terrie-Ann Thomas, Home Manager at HC-One Wales’s Meadowlands Care Home said:
“Tudor has an incredible gift. His photos always tell a story, and he inspires residents and colleagues alike to pause, appreciate, and connect with the world around us. We couldn’t think of a better way to mark World Photography Day.”
At Meadowlands, activities like photography walks are a regular part of life – especially during the summer months, when the garden is in full bloom and the home’s calendar is packed with outdoor events, games, and social gatherings.
Summer is a truly wonderful time to join a care home. The warm weather and vibrant seasonal activities create a welcoming environment where new residents can settle in comfortably and quickly become part of a thriving community.
To help families take that next step, HC-One Wales homes in your area – including Meadowlands – are offering £1,000 off the first month’s fees for anyone moving in before 31st August 2025.
Whether it’s capturing the beauty of nature, enjoying tea in the garden, or building new friendships, Meadowlands offers a safe, caring, and inspiring environment for older people to live their best lives.
