Ash Tree House Care Home in Hindley, Wigan, is spreading the love this Valentine’s Day by hosting a special meal for its resident couples.
Activity Co-Ordinator Nadine Foster has planned a charming dining experience for the home’s two resident couples: Alan and Marjorie Greenwood, who celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary last year and will mark 52 years of marriage this year, and Geoff and Glynis Hampson, who have been married for 25 years. Tables will be beautifully set to create a warm, romantic atmosphere, allowing couples to enjoy a memorable Valentine’s celebration together.
Geoff and Glynis have been friends for nearly 60 years, with Geoff even serving as best man to Glynis’s first husband, Roger. When Roger sadly passed away in 2000, Geoff and Glynis grew closer, and a year later they became a couple. They went on to become grandparents to Arthur in 2001 and Jonah in 2004 and have enjoyed an amazing life together, travelling the world and making the most of every moment.
Alan and Marjorie have been married for over five decades, and Alan still finds ways to make Marjorie smile. A big Elvis fan, Marjorie is often serenaded by Alan at the home’s karaoke afternoons, where he dedicates her favourite song, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
Residents will be treated to a special brunch featuring a selection of pastries, accompanied by a glass of Bucks Fizz or Prosecco. Adding to the festivities, all residents will be entertained by the talented Jimmy Allen, who will perform a selection of classic love songs.
Marie Phillips, Front of House Manager at Ash Tree House, said:
