Residents at Ash Tree House Care Home in Hindley, Wigan, celebrated Valentine’s Day in style with a special couples’ brunch, complete with delicious pastries, sparkling drinks, and live music.
The home’s two resident couples – Alan and Marjorie Greenwood, who will mark 52 years of marriage this year, and Geoff and Glynis Hampson, married for 25 years – were treated to a beautifully set table and a warm, romantic atmosphere designed to make the morning truly memorable.
Geoff and Glynis’s love story spans decades: lifelong friends for nearly 60 years, Geoff was once best man to Glynis’s first husband. Following his passing in 2000, the couple grew closer and became partners a year later. They have since enjoyed family life as grandparents and adventures around the world.
Alan and Marjorie, married for over five decades, continue to share joyful moments together. Alan often serenades Marjorie, a big Elvis fan, with her favourite song, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love”, during the home’s karaoke afternoons.
The brunch featured a selection of pastries, accompanied by Bucks Fizz or Prosecco, and residents were entertained by Jimmy Allen, who performed a selection of classic love songs. The event reflected Ash Tree House’s commitment to creating meaningful, joyful experiences for residents.
