Benfleet Care Home Hosts Dementia Awareness Workshop for Families and Local Community

HC-One’s Godden Lodge Care Home in Benfleet, Essex, welcomed carers, relatives of residents, and members of the local community to a Dementia Awareness Workshop. The session was designed to provide valuable knowledge and practical skills to help support those living with dementia.

A total of 14 attendees took part in the interactive workshop led by Amy Pepper, Dementia Care Manager at HC-One, which explored the different types of dementia and offered insight into how best to care for individuals living with the condition. Participants also developed a better understanding of communication techniques and practical approaches that can make a positive difference in everyday life.

In addition to the learning element, attendees enjoyed tea, coffee, and a selection of cakes while connecting with one another, sharing personal experiences, and building a sense of community support.

Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming Part Two of the workshop, scheduled for November.

Lewis Chester, Home Manager at HC-One’s Godden Lodge Care Home, added:

“It was fantastic to see so many carers and relatives engaging in the workshop. We are passionate about equipping families and our local community with the knowledge and skills to better understand dementia, and we’re excited to continue this journey in November.

“At Godden Lodge, we are committed to creating a supportive environment not just for our residents, but for their loved ones and the wider community too. Workshops like this help bring people together and build confidence in caring for those living with dementia.”

Godden Lodge Care Home looks forward to welcoming attendees back later this year for the continuation of this important initiative.
