Benwell care home celebrates artistic tribute to its colleagues through acclaimed local art displayHC-One’s Orchard Mews Care Home in Benwell, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, is proudly celebrating the recognition of its dedicated team through a powerful and heartfelt art display created by local artist Nay Ahmed, whose work recently captivated audiences at the Vane Gallery in Newcastle.

Titled ‘Women Who Care – The Workforce’, Nay’s thought-provoking piece pays tribute to the compassionate women working at Orchard Mews. Remarkably painted on kitchen roll, the miniature portraits highlight the individuality, strength, and humanity of the care team, a creative choice that left many viewers astonished by the realism and depth of emotion conveyed.

The exhibition was a great success, resonating with the public and receiving widespread praise. Now, Gateshead Council has invited Nay to exhibit the work once again, this time in a broader community setting. As part of the upcoming display, Nay will be sharing personal insights into the stories behind each portrait, giving a voice to the often-unsung heroes of the care sector.

The care home colleagues featured in the artwork are proud to take part in this next phase, further celebrating the important role carers play in the lives of residents and families.

Claire Harrop, Home Manager at HC-One’s Orchard Mews Care Home said:

“This project has brought so much pride and joy to our team. Nay has captured something truly special, the spirit, resilience, and warmth of our care team. We’re honoured to see their contributions recognised in such a unique and meaningful way.”

The exhibition will soon be on display in Gateshead, with further details to follow.
