Blakelands Lodge Spreads Festive Cheer at Bedford Christmas Tree Festival

HC-One’s Blakelands Lodge Care Home in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire, proudly took part in this year’s Bedford Christmas Tree Festival, celebrating its Silver Jubilee and 25 years of festive cheer, community spirit, and musical joy at St Paul’s Church, Bedford.

Colleagues and residents from Blakelands Lodge decorated the home’s tree on Tuesday 2nd December, with two residents joining in the festive fun. This year’s theme, “Past, Present, and Future,” inspired a tree that showcased images from the past, pictures of the home and residents to represent the present, and uplifting words about life in a care home to inspire hope for the future.

The Bedford Christmas Tree Festival features over 70 beautifully decorated trees created by local schools, community groups, and businesses. Across five festive days, 39 choirs and 8 instrumentalists will fill the church with seasonal music. Visitors can enjoy the festival from 3rd–7th December, with family-friendly activities including a festive treasure hunt for children.

All proceeds from the festival go to local charities, supporting Bedford Hospital Charity & Friends and St Paul’s Church. The festival has raised over £250,000 over the past 25 years, with the community-driven event run by over 300 volunteers and supported by main sponsor Jayne Beard Associates.

Hayley Lant, Front of House Manager at HC-One’s Blakelands Lodge Care Home said:

“We are delighted to be part of this magical festival once again. Decorating the tree alongside our residents was a wonderful way to celebrate the festive season, reflect on our journey, and share the joy of community spirit.”
