Burns Night Celebrated in Style at Windsor Court Care HomeResidents at HC-One’s Windsor Court Care Home in Wetherby enjoyed a memorable Burns Night celebration, held in honour of the home’s Scottish residents.

The celebrations saw the Windsor Court kitchen team prepare a traditional feast, complete with haggis, allowing residents to enjoy the flavours and customs of Scotland. As part of the event, residents gathered to listen to Robert Burns’ famous Address to a Haggis, followed by a toast to the poet with a traditional wee dram of whisky.

The afternoon continued with Scottish music, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere throughout the home. Residents even tried their hand at some Scottish dancing, before settling down to enjoy a range of warming drinks including hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows, Highland coffee, Baileys, sherry and wine.

Residents who were unable to join the main celebrations were not forgotten, with Scottish-themed drinks and treats delivered to bedrooms so everyone could feel included.

Ursula Herbert, Activities Co-ordinator at Windsor Court Care Home, said:
“It was a lovely afternoon and very much appreciated by our Scottish residents. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the music, the food and the sense of celebration together.”

Resident Stanley Menzies added:
“It was very lovely.”

The Burns Night event formed part of Windsor Court’s ongoing programme of activities designed to celebrate residents’ backgrounds, interests and life experiences, helping to create meaningful moments and a strong sense of community within the home.
