Residents and colleagues at HC-One’s Haywood Lodge Care Home in Mappleborough Green, Studley, are celebrating after their entry into the Forest of Arden Agricultural Show won First Prize and the prestigious Outstanding Exhibit Award. The annual show, held at Ragley Park on Sunday, September 21, included a handicraft section exclusively open to residents of nursing and residential homes.
Working closely with Georgia Cooney, HC-One’s Haywood Lodge Care Home Manager, residents discussed ideas for their submission and decided to create a “magical tree”. Over several weeks, residents and colleagues collaborated to bring their vision to life – carefully handcrafting each decoration to adorn the tree.
Their creativity, teamwork and dedication paid off when the judges awarded the exhibit top honours, describing it as “an amazing piece” and “a collaboration of minds and hands bringing together a wonderful magical tree”. Georgia attended the show alongside residents John and Mary, both of whom had worked on the decorations.
