HC-One’s Newfield Lodge Care Home, in Castleford, West Yorkshire, have proudly unveiled a poignant war veteran memorial in its wildlife garden, featuring a striking metal Tommy soldier statue.
This new space offers a serene setting for residents, colleagues, and visitors to reflect and pay tribute to those who have served. Funded through the success of a recent car wash event, the Newfield Lodge community united to purchase the Tommy soldier statue.
Stephanie O'Donnell, Newfield Lodge Caretaker, led the charge by dedicating hours to digging and painting to create a meaningful memorial area within the wildlife garden. The statue stands as a lasting symbol of gratitude and respect, open to all who wish to honour veterans.
Lauren Poole, HC-One’s Newfield Lodge Wellbeing Coordinator, expressed her pride:
"We are deeply honoured to dedicate this Tommy soldier memorial to our veterans. This special space in our wildlife garden invites everyone to come together, reflect, and show their respect. It’s a testament to our community’s commitment to remembering those who have sacrificed so much."
