Castleford care home invites local community to become pen pals and spread joyNewfield Lodge Care Home is encouraging people of all ages to put pen to paper. Residents at Newfield Lodge Care Home in Castleford, West Yorkshire, are inviting members of the local community to brighten their day by becoming a pen pal.

The care home has launched a new Pen Pals initiative, encouraging people of all ages to write letters to residents and help create meaningful connections through the simple joy of receiving post. A handwritten letter can offer companionship, spark memories and bring a much-needed smile to someone’s face.

The team at Newfield Lodge hopes the initiative will appeal to individuals, families, schools, community groups and anyone who enjoys writing and wants to make a positive difference. Letters of any length are welcome, whether they share everyday stories, hobbies, interests or just a friendly hello.

Lauren Poole, Activities Coordinator at Newfield Lodge Care Home said:
“Sometimes one letter can change someone’s whole day. Receiving post is incredibly special for our residents, and becoming a pen pal is a wonderful way to spread kindness and build connections across our community.”

Anyone wishing to take part is asked to write to:
