Chelmsford care home launches community initiative 'Time for a Cuppa' to bridge care and family

HC-One's Admirals Reach Care Home in Chelmsford, Essex, has opened its doors to residents, families, friends, and local community members after launching new monthly community initiative ‘Time for a Cuppa’.

The inaugural event brought together key figures from the care sector on Thursday, May 29, including Lal Mangalam, Home Manager at Admirals Reach, Ken Ofori, Regional Admissions Coordinator, and Maxine Gower, Senior Wellbeing Coordinator.

They were joined by representatives from local services, including the Hunnaball Family Funeral Group and Rachael Sargeant, Celebrant & Life Councillor from Golden Charter Funeral Plans and Backhouse Solicitors.

The gathering served a dual purpose, creating a welcoming community space while providing attendees with crucial information about how Admirals Reach supports people through tailored residential, nursing and nursing dementia care services.

Emphasis was placed on maintaining independence for those in care, even individuals with complex clinical needs or conditions, through person-centred care that facilitates people's individual needs and wishes.

During the event, the Admirals Reach team also highlighted the varied activities available within the home, including clubs, entertainment, and organised trips via minibus, as well as upcoming events such as the Care Home Open Week, when Admirals Reach will host a small fête.

Lal Mangalam, HC-One’s Admirals Reach Care Home Manager, said:

"Time for a Cuppa represents our commitment to being more than just a care home – we're a community hub. This monthly event gives us the opportunity to engage with families and friends while ensuring they have access to the information and support they need."

The monthly ‘Time for a Cuppa’ events will continue to provide an informal setting for community engagement while connecting local residents with essential care and support services.
