HC-One’s Brize Meadow Lodge Care Home in Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, hosted an engaging programme of activities designed to highlight the importance of infection control and reinforce best practice among residents and colleagues.
With the colder months approaching, the initiative provided a timely reminder of the role that hygiene and safety play in creating a healthy, secure environment for all.
The day was led by Krystal Claridge, the home’s dedicated Infection Control Lead, who organised a series of educational and interactive sessions. From lively demonstrations to friendly competitions, the aim was to make learning about infection control both enjoyable and memorable.
One of the standout moments was a handwashing competition, where residents challenged colleagues to achieve the cleanest hands. Following Krystal’s guidance on effective hand hygiene, the activity sparked both laughter and learning, underlining how small actions can have a big impact.
The programme also included a PPE demonstration, giving residents and colleagues the opportunity to explore the purpose and correct use of personal protective equipment, as well as the importance of proper disposal methods. Meanwhile, the senior care team carried out checks around the home to ensure that infection control standards remained consistently high.
The event was a resounding success, thanks to Krystal’s leadership and the enthusiastic participation of residents and colleagues. Looking ahead, the home is preparing a calendar of seasonal events to keep spirits high through the autumn and winter months.
