Primrose House Care Home, part of the HC-One family and located in Haslington near Crewe, proudly opened its doors to the local community from Monday 16th June to Sunday 22nd June 2025 as part of the nationwide Care Home Open Week celebrations.
The home hosted a week of themed events under HC-One’s “The Big Summer Weekender” banner, culminating in a vibrant Summer Fayre that brought together residents, families, and neighbours.
Throughout the week, Primrose House welcomed guests to enjoy a variety of activities that evoked nostalgic British summer holidays, including a dominoes tournament, a painting competition, National Picnic Day on the lawn with Pimms, a therapy dog visit, prize bingo, and a classic Carry On Camping film screening complete with popcorn and choc ices.
The main celebration will be held on Saturday 21st June, from 2pm-4pm, when the home will host its Summer Fayre featuring a summer camping holiday theme. The event will include a BBQ, refreshments, games, and a lively market with tombola, raffles, homemade cakes, goody bags, and artisan stalls, all aimed at bringing the local community together and showcasing the home’s warm, welcoming atmosphere.
As part of the celebrations, residents, colleagues, families and visitors were treated to a colourful setting decorated in classic summer style, designed to spark joyful memories of holidays past and foster new connections with the community.
The week also highlighted the rewarding career opportunities in social care, with colleagues on hand to speak to visitors about their experiences and the volunteering roles available at the home.
Cllr Sally Graham, Mayor of Crewe, attended the dominoes tournament on Monday 16th June and enjoyed meeting all the residents and colleagues. Cllr Sally Graham, Mayor of Crewe, enjoyed a tour of the 42 bedded care home which offers residential dementia and nursing dementia care including the hair salon, lounge, pub, ensuite bedrooms, and gardens.

“I was delighted to join the dominoes competition at Primrose House on Monday, the first of a series of events being put on to mark Carer's Week - culminating in Primrose House's Fayre at the weekend. It was great fun chatting and laughing with the dominoes players. Afterwards I was given a tour of Primrose House and had the opportunity to meet many more residents.
