HC-One’s Lydgate Lodge Care Home in Batey, West Yorkshire welcomed residents, families, friends and the wider community for a heart-warming day of festive celebrations at its annual Christmas Fair. The home was alive with music, laughter and Christmas cheer as guests enjoyed an afternoon packed with entertainment, seasonal treats and memorable moments.
The event featured a magical live performance from Dominic Beresford, whose Christmas set quickly got everyone into the festive spirit. Staff added to the joyous atmosphere by dressing in cheerful Christmas attire, spreading warmth and smiles throughout the home.
A special highlight of the day was the arrival of Santa Claus – played by actor Josh Brown, known for appearances in Grange Hill, Shameless, Waterloo Road, and several films. Santa brought gifts, good wishes and plenty of Christmas spirit to residents young and old.
Guests were also delighted by a visit from actor Samuel Bottomley – who plays Jordan in Ackley Bridge and has starred in multiple feature films – as he spent time celebrating the season with his grandmother, a much-loved resident at Lydgate Lodge.
Visitors enjoyed mulled wine, Prosecco, hot chocolate and an array of festive treats expertly prepared by the home's dedicated Christmas team. The afternoon was filled with dancing, singing, and merriment, alongside classic fair attractions including a tombola, raffle, festive stalls and visits to Santa’s Grotto.

Josh Brown, who played Santa Claus, added:
“We had an absolutely fantastic afternoon. I really enjoy seeing all the residents, not only in the home but in the community too. What a wonderful day of spreading festive cheer to those who have walked before us and their wonderful families.”
