Residents at HC-One’s Fosse Way View Care Home in Bingham, Nottingham, have continued their heart-warming annual tradition of giving back to the local community through their much-loved Knit and Natter group.
Ceris Watts visited the home to collect ten handmade blankets and ten knitted teddies, lovingly crafted by residents. This marks the third consecutive year that the group has donated their colourful blankets, and for the first time, each blanket will be accompanied by its own matching teddy. The special delivery is destined for the children’s unit at the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham, offering comfort and cheer to young patients.
The Knit and Natter group, which meets every Tuesday afternoon, is a cherished part of life at Fosse Way View. Residents say the sessions are filled not only with creativity but also companionship, laughter, and fond memories of knitting with mothers and grandmothers.
Dawn Bellaby, Wellbeing Coordinator at HC-One’s Fosse Way View Care Home, said:
“I am so proud of the knitting ladies. They put so much love and effort into making every single square. We all enjoy our time together, reminiscing and creating something meaningful for others.”
Upon receiving the blankets and teddies, Ceris praised the residents’ craftsmanship and generosity:
“The blankets are absolutely lovely, and the teddies will be such a wonderful surprise for the children, something comforting they can cuddle. I’m already looking forward to visiting again next year.”
HC-One’s Fosse Way View Care Home is proud to support projects that connect residents with the wider community and highlight the creativity and kindness of those who call the home their own.
