Grimsby care home enjoys ‘The Big Summer Weekender’ with local communityHC-One’s Clarendon Hall Care Home in Humberston, Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, welcomed visitors and guests from their local community to participate in this year’s Care Home Open Week celebrations from Monday, June 16 until Sunday June 22, 2025.

The homes main celebration event took place during Care Home Open Weekend on Sunday, June 22. Clarendon Hall Care Home welcomed residents, colleagues, friends, family and the wider community to ‘The Big Summer Weekender’ event.

Care Home Open Week is a national event hosted by Championing Social Care, designed to connect care homes with their local communities. The week offers care homes the opportunity to showcase their range of services, provide tours of their facilities, and highlight the activities that are offered to residents.

The event is also a reminder to the homes’ neighbours that they are there if they need support. Throughout the week, residents, colleagues, families, and friends enjoyed a variety of fun-filled activities culminating in an end-of-week celebration at the home.

The event also sought to connect the homes with their neighbours, highlighting the communal support that the home can provide. HC-One’s chosen theme for this year’s Care Home Open Week was ‘The Big Summer Weekender’ emulating the nostalgic feel of British summer holidays with a variety of fun-filled activities culminating in an end-of-week celebration at the home.

Clarendon Hall Care Home hosted an unforgettable afternoon of music, community spirit, and fundraising that delighted residents, families, and the wider community. The vibrant celebration, filled with performances, stalls, and heartfelt moments, raised over £400 and counting for the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.

The day kicked off with the soulful harmonies of The Storm Breakers, a trio who set the tone with their captivating performance. Next, residents and guests were charmed by a special visit from Martyn and his three Bernese Mountain Dogs, who pulled miniature hurdy-gurdy carts, stealing the show with their gentle charm.

The entertainment continued with a heartfelt solo acoustic set by Quinn, followed by a dynamic performance from Charlie and Quinn as a duo. The afternoon culminated in a moving finale by the Clarendon Choir, featuring residents, colleagues, and family members, whose voices brought joy and unity to all.

The event buzzed with activity, including a lively tombola, a thrilling raffle, and a variety of stalls. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous barbecue feast, while beautifully crafted hampers for new babies, filled with hand-knitted clothes and essentials, added a touching gesture to the day’s offerings.
