Residents and colleagues at HC-One’s Handley House Care Home in Clifton, York, recently celebrated Oktoberfest in style, turning the care home into a lively Bavarian festival full of laughter, games, and cultural delights. The event provided residents with a wonderful opportunity to come together, enjoy festive activities, and embrace a taste of traditional German culture.
The care home was transformed with colourful decorations, including blue-and-white bunting, Oktoberfest-themed table settings, and festive music. Residents enjoyed a variety of activities, including traditional games, arts and crafts, and a quiz celebrating Bavarian traditions. The highlight for many was sampling a selection of Oktoberfest beverages, specially prepared to be safe and enjoyable for all residents.
A themed lunch with classic Bavarian dishes, including pretzels, sausages, and seasonal treats, brought the festival to life. Colleagues dressed in traditional German attire, adding an extra element of fun and authenticity to the celebrations. Residents were also encouraged to participate in singing, dancing, and interactive games, creating a lively, inclusive, and joyous atmosphere.
The Oktoberfest celebration at Handley House is part of HC-One’s ongoing commitment to providing meaningful, engaging, and culturally enriching experiences for residents.
