Hayes care home celebrates Care Home Open Week with vibrant Summer Weekender

HC-One’s Aston House Care Home in Hayes, Middlesex, opened its doors to the community on June 19, 2025, to celebrate Care Home Open Week, showcasing the incredible work and dedication of colleagues and the vibrant life of its residents.

From Monday, June 16 to Friday, June 20, 2025, residents, colleagues, and members of the local community came together to celebrate life, care, and companionship in a series of joyful events, as part of this year’s national Care Home Open Week, hosted by Championing Social Care.

The event, themed “The Big Summer Weekender” with a Tropical Hawaiian flair, brought together residents, families, friends, and local dignitaries for a day filled with joy, connection, and celebration. The newly elected Mayor of Hillingdon, Philip Corthorne, and his Mayoress and wife, Fiona, celebrated the occasion with their presence, engaging warmly with residents through heartfelt conversations and light-hearted moments.

The Mayor expressed admiration for Aston House colleagues’ efforts to ensure residents’ happiness, praising the exceptional care and community spirit at Aston House. Resident Robert shared insights into the daily activities that enrich life at the care home, earning heartfelt recognition from both the Mayor and attendees.

The Tropical Hawaiian-themed event featured lively Hawaiian music by “The Young Pulse” band, floral leis, tropical drinks, and delicious food, creating an unforgettable garden party atmosphere. Despite the summer heat, residents, visitors, and the Mayor joined in games, dancing, and singing.

The Mayor expressed enthusiasm for attending future events at the care home. The celebrations concluded on Friday with a classic Community Fish and Chip Lunch, enjoyed by residents and visitors of all ages, in a warm and welcoming setting.

Aston House resident Robert said:

“The Hawaiian party was such a blast with the music, dancing, and tropical vibes. I loved sharing with the Mayor how our daily activities keep us smiling and connected. It means so much to see our community come together and celebrate the warmth and care we experience here every day.”

Aston House Care Home, located in Hayes, Middlesex, welcomed visitors and guests throughout the week as part of HC-One’s wider theme for this year’s Care Home Open Week – “The Big Summer Weekender”. This nostalgic celebration of British summer holidays past and present included a series of fun-filled events and community-focused gatherings, culminating in the joyful end-of-week celebration at the home.

As well as providing a space for existing relatives and residents to celebrate life at the home, visitors were encouraged to hear directly from colleagues about what a rewarding career in care looks like, opportunities for community involvement, and volunteering roles available at the home.

Seema Sandeep-Jose, HC-One’s Aston House Care Home Manager, said:

“Care Home Open Week has been an incredible opportunity to open our doors and share the heart of Aston House with our community. The Summer Weekender theme brought so much joy, from the Hawaiian garden party to the fish and chip lunch.

“Seeing residents, families, and the Mayor join in the laughter and celebrations truly highlights the vibrant spirit of our home. We’re proud to showcase the dedication of our colleagues and the meaningful connections we foster every day.”
