HC-One Announces Winner of 2025 Festive Card Competition: Godden Lodge Resident and Talented Artist

HC-One Announces Winner of 2025 Festive Card Competition: Godden Lodge Resident and Talented Artist Frank Reynolds

HC-One is delighted to announce the winner of this year’s HC-One Festive Card Competition: 94-year-old Frank Arthur Reynolds from Godden Lodge Care Home in Benfleet, Essex.

Frank’s beautiful design, featuring a classic red telephone box set against snowy buildings and a winter landscape, captured the spirit of the festive season perfectly. His artwork was selected from many wonderful entries submitted by residents across HC-One homes. The winning design will now become the official HC-One Seasons Greetings card for 2025, with Frank receiving printed copies to share with family and friends.

Frank joined the warm and welcoming community at Godden Lodge on 7th May 2025, reuniting with his beloved wife, who was already a resident. Bringing with him a lifetime of creativity and culture, Frank has pursued painting for more than 20 years, inspired by his admiration for professional artists and particularly influenced by British painter Hazel Soan.

Landscapes are his favourite subject, including a treasured painting of a woodland stream. “I can hear the water rushing when I look at the painting,” Frank shared with a smile.

Frank’s artistic talents are rooted in a rich career history, having worked as a graphic designer in Canada and later as an interior designer in London. He has also travelled widely with the Salvation Army brass band, with which he was actively involved for many years before settling back in England.

Today, Frank continues to find joy and purpose through his art. “Painting gives me a great sense of satisfaction and an element of success,” he said. “Painting helps me retain my skills, and it passes the time in a way that feels worthwhile.”

Several of Frank’s paintings are proudly displayed in the reception area at Godden Lodge, where residents and visitors alike can enjoy his work. Though he is not currently teaching, Frank hopes his art brings pleasure to all who see it. His advice to aspiring painters is simple: “Keep painting.”

Home Manager Lewis Chester expressed his pride and admiration for Frank’s talent and achievement:

“We are absolutely thrilled that Frank has won this year’s HC-One Festive Card Competition. His talent shines through in everything he creates, and seeing his artwork chosen to represent the company’s Christmas greetings is a wonderful achievement. Everyone at Godden Lodge is incredibly proud of him.”

Reflecting on his latest accolade, Frank added:

“My love of painting continues to give myself and others pleasure.”

HC-One congratulates Frank on this well-deserved recognition and thanks all residents who shared their creativity in this year’s competition.

A huge thank you goes to all residents and colleagues who took part and supported the competition. The creativity, festive cheer and effort shown in every entry were truly inspiring.
