HC-One’s Dove Court Care Home in Burnley, Lancashire, is calling on the local community to help celebrate a very special milestone. Margaret Phenix, one of the home’s cherished residents, will turn 100 on 20th December 2025, and colleagues are inviting friends, family, and well-wishers to send her birthday cards to mark the occasion.
Margaret was born in 1925 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, and has lived a full and remarkable life. She joined the Royal Air Force at 17, helping to deliver essential goods by aircraft during her service. Although she did not fly the planes herself, Margaret has fond memories of this time and recalls her role with great pride. She was married twice and shared many happy years with her later husband, Bill, until his passing in 1981.
Margaret has an incredibly large and loving family: 11 children, 20 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, all of whom she has supported and inspired throughout her life. Her life motto, “Take life how you find it, life is how you take it, just do your best,” reflects her enduring positivity.

The centenary will be celebrated in style at Dove Court with a special party attended by family, friends, colleagues, and special visitors. The festivities will include a buffet lunch, birthday cake, afternoon tea, and entertainment by Kyle Harrison.
Margaret fondly remembers her time in Kirkcaldy before moving over to Burnley in 1970 with her husband Bill, raising her children and grandchildren, her years in the RAF, and her independent living until the age of 98. Dove Court is thrilled to celebrate her incredible life and remarkable milestone with the wider community.
