HC-One’s
Hepworth House Care Home in Stanley, Wakefield, is delighted to announce the launch of its “Toys for Tiny Smiles” Appeal, supporting children receiving care on Gate 46 at
Pinderfields Hospital this Christmas.
This heartfelt initiative brings together residents, colleagues, families, and the wider community to collect new, unwrapped toys for young patients who will be spending the festive season in hospital. The goal is simple but powerful: to bring joy, comfort and a much-needed smile to children during a challenging time.
To help guide those wishing to donate, the appeal welcomes a variety of new only items suitable for children aged 0–12, including: small toys for girls and boys, colouring books and crayons, sticker packs, dolls, cars, craft kits, bubbles, Christmas activity packs, and children’s books. All items must be brand new and unwrapped to meet hospital infection-control standards.
Debbie Manley, Home Manager at HC-One’s Hepworth House Care Home, said:
“Christmas can be especially hard for children receiving treatment. With the kindness of our community, we hope that every child on the ward will wake up to a special gift that brightens their Christmas morning.
“We’re so proud to support this appeal and to be part of a community that cares. Every donation helps make Christmas morning a little brighter for these children, and we can’t wait to deliver the gifts personally.”
Due to hospital infection-control requirements, the appeal can accept only brand-new, unwrapped toys.
All donations should be dropped off at Hepworth House Care Home by 14th December 2025, ensuring the team has plenty of time to safely sort and deliver gifts to the Children’s Unit ahead of Christmas.
Ellie Linskill, Wellbeing Coordinator at Hepworth House Care Home, shared:
“Seeing our residents and staff come together to support children in hospital warms my heart. These little gifts aren’t just toys – they’re hope, comfort, and moments of joy for children who need it most. Knowing that we can help create even a single smile on Christmas morning makes all of us feel truly connected to this special cause.”
Hepworth House invites everyone in the local area to take part.
