Highfield Care Home Celebrates International Women’s Day with Special Visit from Soroptimist InternaResidents at Highfield Care Home in Yarm, Stockton on Tees, enjoyed a heartwarming celebration of International Women's Day, as members of Soroptimist International Stockton-on-Tees paid a special visit to mark the occasion.

The home was filled with smiles and spring colours as the Soroptimists arrived with thoughtful gifts of beautiful flowers for each of the residents. The gesture was more than just a bouquet – it was a celebration of the strength, resilience and achievements of women across generations.

Residents were touched by the kindness, and the atmosphere quickly filled with conversation, laughter and memories shared over the flowers.

Soroptimist International is a global volunteer organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and children, and their visit reflected that mission in action. Their time with residents brought joy, companionship and a meaningful reminder of the positive impact women make within communities and beyond.

Senior Lead Carol Wiles said:
“It was truly special to see our ladies recognised and celebrated in such a meaningful way. The kindness shown by the Soroptimists brought real joy to the home, and moments like this remind us how important connection and community are.”

Thelma Thompson, Wellbeing Coordinator, who helped coordinate the visit, added her thanks to the group for making the day so memorable.

The team at Highfield Care Home extended their heartfelt appreciation to the Stockton-on-Tees Soroptimists for making this year’s International Women's Day such a special occasion for residents.
