Residents at HC-One’s Daneside Court Care Home in Northwich, Cheshire, recently rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on in the kitchen, creating a delicious homemade tea inspired by cherished food memories from their past.
The idea was sparked by a heartfelt conversation among residents, who had been reminiscing about the comforting meals they used to enjoy at home. In true Daneside Court spirit, the care team responded with warmth and enthusiasm, turning memories into a meaningful mealtime experience.
With smiles on their faces and aprons at the ready, residents joined colleagues in preparing an impressive spread that included homemade pizzas, fresh salads, colourful fruit bowls, and a few fun extras including chicken nuggets and garlic bread.
It was a first for the care home, but any initial nerves quickly gave way to laughter, teamwork, and a deep sense of pride. The atmosphere was filled with joy as residents dined together, surrounded by friends, family and familiar faces.
Samantha Farahat, Home Manager at HC-One’s Daneside Court Care Home, said:
“It was so special to see everyone involved and enjoying themselves. You could feel the sense of connection and accomplishment; it really was a lovely evening.
“The homemade meal wasn’t just about food, it was a celebration of community, nostalgia, and the small moments that bring people together.”
Daneside Court continues to find creative ways to support wellbeing and encourage meaningful engagement among residents, colleagues, and loved ones. This recent culinary adventure is just one of many that highlights the home’s commitment to heartfelt, person-centred care.
