Honiton care home celebrates National Cheese Day with creativity and communityResidents, families and colleagues at HC-One’s Gittisham Hill House Care Home in Honiton, Devon, celebrated National Cheese Day (4th June) in style, with a delightful afternoon of creativity, connection, and culinary fun.

National Cheese Day is a light-hearted celebration of one of the nation’s favourite foods, and at Gittisham Hill House, it was the perfect excuse to bring people together for some delicious fun.

In honour of the occasion, residents, colleagues, and visiting family members gathered to prepare beautifully presented cheese and fruit platters for the home’s afternoon tea trolley. Residents and their families created vibrant cheese and fruit platters, turning the afternoon into a shared creative experience.

With laughter in the air and a few cheeky nibbles along the way, the event was a fantastic way to spark conversation, encourage participation, and celebrate the simple pleasures of good food and good company. The activity brought smiles all around as participants took pride in crafting their colourful and delicious displays.

Mollie Welch, Wellbeing Coordinator at HC-One’s Gittisham Hill House Care Home, shared her thoughts on the day stating:

“It was great to see the residents getting creative and making their plates look pretty. They really took pride in what they prepared, and it was lovely to see families joining in and enjoying the moment together.

“The event forms part of our ongoing commitment to delivering meaningful experiences that promote wellbeing, social engagement, and joy among residents.’’
