Horden care home celebrates colleague’s achievement as newly qualified nursing associate

HC-One’s Jack Dormand Care Home in Horden, Peterlee, is proud to celebrate Tizzy Taylor’s remarkable achievement of qualifying as a Nurse Associate (NA) and joining the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Register with her PIN date of May 8, 2026.

This milestone highlights Tizzy’s commitment to delivering exceptional care and strengthens the home’s dedication to person-centred care for its residents. To mark this special occasion, Jack Dormand Care Home hosted a heartfelt surprise party for Tizzy, attended by residents, colleagues, and visitors.

The celebration was filled with warmth and pride, showcasing the strong community spirit at the home. As a Nurse Associate, Tizzy plays a vital role in bridging the gap between care assistants and registered nurse, contributing to core nursing tasks under the oversight of a registered nurse.

This role, regulated by the NMC, enhances care delivery by allowing registered nurses to focus on complex clinical duties while ensuring residents receive compassionate, high-quality support. Tizzy’s qualification also opens opportunities for further career progression, including the potential to pursue a registered Nurse qualification.

Marie Shillaw, HC-One’s Jack Dormand Care Home Manager, said:

“We are incredibly proud of Tizzy’s dedication and hard work in achieving her Nursing Associate qualification. Her commitment to our residents and her compassionate approach makes her an invaluable member of our team.

“This celebration reflects our shared pride in her accomplishment and our commitment to fostering a supportive environment for both colleagues and residents.”

Tizzy Taylor, HC-One’s Jack Dormand Care Home Nurse, stated:

“I’m truly honoured to be a Registered Nursing Associate and to work at Jack Dormand Care Home. The surprise party was such a wonderful gesture, and I’m excited to continue supporting our residents and growing in this role.”

Kelly Smith, HC-One Head of Nursing and practice development, said:

“At HC-One, we are dedicated to supporting our colleagues in both clinical and managerial career pathways. We look forward to supporting Tizzy through her Nurse Associate preceptorship programme to consolidate her learning and gain confidence and competence in practice.”
