Kirkwood Court Care Home Residents Enjoy Heart-warming Visit from Local ChildrenResidents at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court Care Home in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, were delighted to welcome local schoolchildren for an afternoon of shared reading, companionship, and community connection.

The children spent time reading light stories with residents, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere that was enjoyed by everyone involved. These regular visits play an important role in helping residents build meaningful relationships with younger members of the community, boosting their sense of value and belonging.

The interaction is mutually beneficial, giving children the chance to grow in confidence as they read aloud and receive kind encouragement from residents who enjoy supporting them.

Lauren Proctor, Wellbeing Coordinator at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court Care Home, shared:
“It was a great day, and everyone enjoyed it.

“The residents loved listening to the children’s stories and cherished their company.”

Resident Gladys Duffy summed up the mood perfectly, saying: “Seeing the children has brightened up my day.”

The afternoon was filled with smiles, conversation and shared moments, creating lasting memories for both generations. The Kirkwood Court team looks forward to welcoming the children back for more reading and friendship in the near future.
