Leighton Court Care Home Commemorates Remembrance Weekend with Heartfelt ActivitiesResidents and colleagues at HC-One’s Leighton Court Care Home in Wallasey, Wirral, came together to honour Remembrance Weekend with a series of meaningful and creative activities.

The home was beautifully decorated, and residents contributed their own watercolour artworks, bringing a personal touch to the display. They also crafted hanging poppy tags, which were made available for visitors to take and keep as a lasting tribute to those who have served.

As part of a special photography project, residents were photographed holding poppies, with the images edited to make the poppy stand out, a simple yet powerful way of remembering the fallen.

The weekend also included a church memorial service, where residents listened to stories and reflections from the community. A very special visit was made by Lance Corporal Mathew Lee-Price and Lance Corporal Ewan Steele of the First Royal Irish Battalion. Mathew, the son of care assistant Kate Smith, and Ewan shared their experiences, displayed their medals, and engaged with residents in a heartfelt discussion about their service.

Back at the home, residents and colleagues enjoyed a tea party with cakes and wartime songs, celebrating the spirit of remembrance together.

Sophie Teasdale and Lisa Warrington, Wellbeing Coordinators, led the activities, ensuring a meaningful and memorable weekend for all involved. Bob Stirling commented, “An absolutely fantastic memorial service at church. Wonderful.”

Jagat Ramburuth, Home Manager at HC-One’s Leighton Court Care Home, said:
"Remembrance Weekend is a very special time for our residents and staff to come together to reflect, remember, and honour those who have served. It was wonderful to see everyone get involved in creating artwork, making poppy tags, and taking part in our photography project.

“The visit from Lance Corporals Mathew Lee-Price and Ewan Steele made the weekend even more meaningful, and our tea party with wartime songs brought a lovely sense of community and shared memories. I’m proud of how our home has commemorated this important occasion."
