Residents and colleagues at HC-One’s Oakhill House Care Home in Horsham had the pleasure of welcoming John Milne MP on Friday 28th November, as part of UK Parliament Week celebrations.
During his visit, Mr Milne met residents and colleagues to gain insight into life at the 48-bed home, which provides nursing, dementia nursing, and residential dementia care. He toured the home’s facilities, including the hobby room, quiet space, living and dining areas, and ensuite bedrooms, taking time to engage in meaningful conversations with residents about their daily experiences and perspectives on community and national issues.
The visit underscored Oakhill House’s commitment to high-quality, person-centred care and highlighted the home’s wide range of activities designed to enrich the lives of its residents. It also showcased the strong sense of community fostered at Oakhill House, where residents are encouraged to remain active, engaged, and heard.
UK Parliament Week, held annually, encourages citizens across the UK to learn about Parliament, explore how democracy works, and understand how they can make their voices count. The Oakhill House event provided residents with the rare opportunity to speak directly with their local MP and share their thoughts on matters that affect their lives.
