Mappleborough Green care home makes dreams come true for Aston Villa fans

Colleagues at HC-One’s Haywood Lodge Care Home, in Mappleborough Green, Warwickshire, turned dreams into reality for three lifelong Aston Villa supporters by arranging a memorable tour at Villa Park.

Haywood Lodge residents Charlie Shaw and John Fletcher have spent years as devoted season ticket holders. Despite being lifelong fans, the residents had never experienced an official tour of their beloved club’s iconic grounds.

Determined to make this wish come true, Haywood Lodge Care Home Manager Georgia Cooney organised a special day for the residents. Charlie and John, accompanied by fellow resident Charlie Barnes, walked in the footsteps of Villa’s legendary players and explored the pitch side of Villa Park’s hallowed turf.

The residents also experienced the home dressing room used by the first team on matchdays, and one of the luxurious corporate hospitality suites offering a glimpse into the premium dining experience. The residents were thrilled with the experience.

Charlie Shaw, overcome with emotion, told Georgia:

“I can’t believe you’ve brought me here. Thank you so much.”

John Fletcher expressed his gratitude, stating:

“Thank you to the team for taking me. I had a lovely day.”

Charlie Barnes, marvelling at the modern facilities, said:

“It would be fabulous to watch the footy from one of those suites with the luxury dining. It’s so different from the days I used to go!”

Georgia Cooney, HC-One’s Haywood Lodge Care Home Manager, added:

“Seeing the joy on Charlie, John, and Charlie’s faces as they explored Villa Park was truly heartwarming.

“At Haywood Lodge, we’re committed to making our residents’ dreams come true, and this special day was a testament to the power of creating meaningful experiences. Their smiles and stories will stay with us forever.”
