Michael Wheeler MP Highlights Dedication of Worsley Lodge Team During Festive VisitResidents and colleagues at HC-One’s Worsley Lodge Care Home in Worsley, Manchester, enjoyed an engaging visit on Friday 5th December as they welcomed Michael Wheeler, MP for Worsley and Eccles.

During his time at the 48-bed care home, which provides high-quality residential support, Mr Wheeler toured key areas including the hair salon, quiet room, communal lounges, dining areas and the home’s gardens. He was also shown the home’s refurbished summer house, recently transformed into The Timeless Tavern, a garden pub created by the home’s maintenance operative and named by residents. Both Mr Wheeler and his staff member Catherine were impressed by the inviting space, as well as the first-floor café, which residents can choose to use when spending time with visiting relatives.

The MP met with Deputy Manager Faye Tyson, alongside Wellbeing Team Lead Angela McGinty, who guided him and Catherine around the home. He enjoyed conversations with residents throughout the visit and joined in with a fun balloon tennis activity, much to the delight of those taking part. Residents warmly welcomed the opportunity to meet him and Catherine, and the activity added a joyful highlight to the day.

Mr Wheeler also had the chance to meet Felix, the home’s much-loved cat, an encounter enjoyed by both.

The visit underscored the home’s ongoing commitment to fostering close community connections and offering a welcoming, supportive environment where residents can thrive.

Faye Tyson, Deputy Manager at Worsley Lodge Care Home, commented:
“It was a pleasure to host Michael Wheeler and give him a glimpse into the warm, community-focused home we are so proud of. Our residents really enjoyed chatting with him and sharing what life is like here. Visits like this are a wonderful opportunity to highlight the dedication of our team and the positive difference personalised, compassionate care makes every day.”

Michael Wheeler, MP for Worsley and Eccles, said:
"It was a pleasure to meet residents and staff at Worsley Lodge Residential Home. It was lovely to see their facilities and the lengths they have gone to making it feel like home, and to seasonal activities taking place, including the visiting pantomime and performances by local school choirs. I also really appreciated listening to staff and residents’ experiences and reflections. Visits like this provide a clear insight into the work of the team and the role the home plays in our local community. Thank you for welcoming me!"
