Mossdale Residence Care Home in Burnholme, York, was transformed into a lively Bavarian-style celebration, as residents, families, colleagues, and friends gathered together to mark Oktoberfest 2025. The afternoon was filled with laughter, music, and the flavours of Germany, creating a truly memorable occasion for everyone who attended.
The home was decorated with traditional Bavarian touches, setting the scene for a warm and welcoming festival. Guests enjoyed a delicious spread that included freshly baked pretzels, hearty bratwursts, and a selection of German beers, giving residents and families the chance to sample authentic Oktoberfest favourites.
A highlight of the day was the Oktoberfest Beer Trivia Quiz, which sparked some friendly but fierce competition. Residents and their families teamed up to put their knowledge to the test, sharing plenty of laughs along the way.
Music and entertainment also played a big part in the festivities. Residents and guests joined in with traditional German tunes and singalongs, and many had a go at playing the accordion, which was a source of much joy and amusement. The sounds of music and laughter echoed through the home, making the afternoon one to remember.
Wellbeing Coordinator Pauline Hagen reflected on the success of the event, saying:
‘It was an amazing afternoon, and I’d like to thank all who were involved and joined us. The atmosphere was incredible – seeing the residents and their families singing, laughing, and enjoying themselves together was truly special. Events like these bring so much happiness to our community, and it’s a privilege to be a part of it.”
