Northwich Care Home Celebrates Community Spirit During Care Home Open WeekHC-One’s Daneside Mews Care Home, located in Northwich, Cheshire, was thrilled to open its doors to the community during this year’s Care Home Open Week celebrations, which took place from Monday 16th June to Sunday 22nd June 2025.

The care home’s main festivities were held over the Care Home Open Weekend, between Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd June, as part of HC-One’s nationwide theme, ‘The Big Summer Weekender’, designed to bring a nostalgic touch of traditional British summertime fun to residents and visitors alike.

As part of the celebrations, Daneside Mews hosted a series of joyful events to bring the local community, residents, and their families together. One of the highlights was a heartwarming Teddy Bears’ Picnic in the garden, where children from Victoria Road School joined residents for a magical day. The children brought along their favourite teddies and were treated to a special visit from Daddy Bear and Goldilocks, who handed out chocolate treats for a fun-filled treasure hunt and games in the garden.

The home was also honoured to receive a visit from the Mayor of Northwich, Councillor Julie Macdonald, who spent time with residents, schoolchildren, and colleagues, embracing the community spirit and chatting with all in attendance.

Care Home Open Week, hosted by Championing Social Care, is a national initiative to connect care homes with their communities. The week allows homes like Daneside Mews to showcase the care they provide, offer tours of their facilities, and demonstrate the enriching activities available for residents.

Daneside Mews was beautifully decorated in summer-themed décor, creating a warm and welcoming environment for everyone involved. The open week was also an opportunity for visitors to learn more about working in care, explore volunteering opportunities, and understand how care homes such as Daneside Mews are essential hubs of community connection.

Kali Whitbread, Home Manager at HC-One’s Daneside Mews Care Home, said:
“We had a wonderful time celebrating Care Home Open Week and bringing the local community into our home. It was especially heartening to see the joy on our residents’ faces as they spent time with children from Victoria Road School, played garden games, and enjoyed nostalgic summer-themed activities. These events truly highlight how important community connections are to everyone at Daneside Mews.”
