Residents at Acorn Meadow Care Home in Lostock Gralam, Northwich, Cheshire were treated to a spectacular afternoon of music, memories and movement as Elvis Presley came back to the building, in the form of talented tribute artist Dave Bushell.
The home welcomed Dave Bushell for a lively live performance as the King of Rock and Roll, filling the lounge with the unmistakable sounds of Elvis classics. From the first note, residents were clapping, singing and dancing along, creating an electric atmosphere that nobody wanted to end.
The afternoon quickly turned into a joyful singalong, with some brave residents even taking to the microphone to duet with “Elvis” himself. The room was filled with laughter and cheers as residents shared special moments performing alongside their musical hero, while many of the ladies were completely in awe of him.
The event saw fantastic involvement from relatives, who joined their loved ones to enjoy the performance and share in the fun. Families sang and danced together, making it a truly heartwarming occasion that brought everyone closer.
Sophie Sidebotham, Wellbeing Coordinator at Acorn Meadow Care Home, said:
“What a beautiful afternoon we have had. It was so lovely to see such beautiful smiles on everybody's faces, we didn't want the performance to end. It is such a joy to see everybody singing and dancing together and sharing such love within the room. We all made memories to last a lifetime!”
Ian Mason, a resident at the home, added:
“We always love a visit from Elvis. We loved him so much last month that we all requested we bring him back this month! We can't wait for Elvis to visit us again. We love afternoons like this, where we can forget our troubles and just have fun!”
At Acorn Meadow Care Home, meaningful activities and shared experiences are at the heart of daily life, helping residents stay connected, active and engaged. If the cheers and standing ovations were anything to go by, it certainly won’t be long before Elvis makes another return visit.
