Residents at HC-One’s Park House Care Home in Guisborough were delighted to welcome back Owl Adventures for their much-loved annual visit, bringing a truly memorable encounter with some of nature’s most majestic birds of prey.
Hosted by Ryan from Owl Adventures, the session featured four extraordinary birds: Henrietta, a giant European Eagle Owl; Teddy and Whisper, a striking pair of barn owls; Chip, a miniature owl all the way from Africa; and a regal wag-tailed hawk whose personality captivated everyone in the room.
Ryan gave a fascinating demonstration of each bird, sharing their backgrounds, behaviours and unique characteristics. Residents, colleagues and visiting family members were then invited to hold the birds themselves using a special glove. For many, this hands-on encounter was a first and an unforgettable one.
“It was such a magical experience,” said one resident. “To be able to hold an owl so close was absolutely amazing.”
The visit is a highlight of the year at Park House, offering not only joy and excitement but also a wonderful opportunity for residents to connect with nature, reminisce, and share stories together.
Home Manager, Jennifer Draper, added:
“We’re always looking for unique activities that bring happiness and stimulation to our residents. Owl Adventures never fails to deliver something truly special. The smiles on everyone’s faces said it all.”
Park House Care Home extends its thanks to Ryan and Owl Adventures for another enchanting visit and looks forward to welcoming them back again next year.
