Residents of HC-One's River Court Care Home in Watford, Hertfordshire, were treated to a delightful afternoon of music, coffee, and community connection at the Stanborough Park Adventist Church.
The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to expand their social connections beyond the care home, building on their longstanding warm relationship with Cafe West Croxley. Residents from various departments joined together to enjoy an engaging session filled with live music, laughter, and friendly conversation.
Upon arrival, River Court residents were warmly welcomed by the church staff and organisers, who helped them feel comfortable and settled. A particularly heartwarming moment occurred when resident Bill Irans, recognised a host from the singing group, leading to a sweet chat and a photo together.
The organisers ensured front-row seating for the residents, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the lively musical performance. The band presented a mix of entertaining and theatrical songs, with residents clapping, swaying, and joining in the fun. The thoughtfully curated music created a sense of togetherness, fostering genuine connections between the residents and community members.
After the performance, residents enjoyed a delicious selection of cakes and hot refreshments, including chocolate cake, chocolate chip, and strawberry cupcakes, perfectly paired with soothing hot drinks. A special highlight of the afternoon was a live ukulele demonstration, where the lead performer spent time engaging directly with Bill Irans and Ann Monaghan, leaving them thrilled and inspired.
Feedback from residents was overwhelmingly positive, with many leaving the event smiling and grateful for the thoughtful and uplifting experience. The musical and coffee session offered a heartwarming opportunity to strengthen friendships, enjoy live entertainment, and create lasting memories within the local community.
