Residents and colleagues at Brize Meadow Lodge Care Home in Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, operated by HC-One, have been celebrating the spirit of Harvest by giving back to their local community through a special initiative supporting Carterton Food Angels, a local charity dedicated to helping families and individuals in need across West Oxfordshire.
Over the course of several weeks, the Brize Meadow Lodge team invited residents, family members, colleagues, and visitors to donate non-perishable food items, including tinned goods, dried foods, and essential household products. The collection culminated in a generous delivery made directly to Carterton Food Angels, helping to restock their food bank and Community Hub ahead of the busy autumn and winter months.
Residents at Brize Meadow Lodge also enjoyed reminiscing about Harvest traditions during the campaign, sharing memories of past Harvests, family gatherings, and community celebrations. Many helped create display baskets in the home’s communal areas to celebrate the season and showcase the donations before they were collected.
Carterton Food Angels, a volunteer-led organisation, provides vital support through its weekly Community Hub, where visitors can enjoy a hot meal, sweet treats, and a welcoming, inclusive space to connect. The charity also distributes food parcels and hampers to families, elderly residents, and young mums experiencing hardship, ensuring no one in the community goes without.
Brize Meadow Lodge, which provides high-quality residential, and residential dementia care for older people, regularly takes part in community partnerships and charitable events to strengthen connections across Brize Norton and surrounding areas.
As the season of giving continues, Brize Meadow Lodge encourages everyone to share the Harvest spirit, coming together in kindness, compassion, and community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Looking ahead, the home is preparing a calendar of seasonal events to keep spirits high through the autumn and winter months.
