Residents at HC-One’s Daneside Court Care Home in Northwich, Cheshire, enjoyed a delightful afternoon in the sunshine as they celebrated World Honey Bee Day (August 16) with a special honey tasting session.
World Honey Bee Day is an annual celebration that highlights the crucial role honeybees play in the environment and agriculture. It is a time to recognise the work of beekeepers and raise awareness about the importance of pollination, which is vital for the growth of many crops and plants.
The event brought residents together to explore a variety of delicious honeys, comparing their colours, textures, and floral sources. From light and floral to rich and robust, each variety offered something unique, sparking thoughtful discussion and plenty of enthusiastic sampling.
Samantha Farahat, HC-One’s Daneside Court Care Home Manager, said:
“It was a lovely way to celebrate the incredible work of bees. There was lots of chatter, laughter, and sampling of honey – a sure sign of a successful tasting!”
After much consideration, Orange Blossom Honey was voted the residents’ favourite honey, taking the crown as the clear winner of the day.
