Two Glasgow Care Homes are celebrating success after being named in the top 20 homes in Scotland. Highgate Care Home in Uddingston, and Mugdock House Care Home in Bearsden, Lanarkshire, were recognised after residents and relatives voted them as two of the Top 20 recommended care homes in Scotland in the Carehome.co.uk Awards 2026. This marks Mugdock House Care Home’s eighth consecutive year in the prestigious Top 20 Carehome.co.uk Awards in Scotland.
Carehome.co.uk, the UK's leading care home directory and comparison website, held its annual Care Home Awards to recognise the 20 top-rated care homes in each region of the UK. Based on individual review scores from residents, and their friends, family and loved ones, the awards demonstrate real life opinions and first-hand experiences from those most closely connected to the home.
Highgate received an overall rating of 10/10 and Mugdock House received an overall rating of 9.9/10 based on independent reviews, in recognition of the high standards of care provided at the homes – which both provide nursing and nursing dementia services for their local communities.
Highgate’s Home Manager, Laura Turnbull, said:
“We are very proud to be recognised as one of the Top 20 care homes in Scotland. I’m inspired by our dedicated team at Highgate, who work tirelessly every day to provide kind, person-centred care and to create a welcoming, supportive home for everyone who lives here.”
Mugdock House’s Home Manager, Lorraine Murray, added:
“To be named a Top 20 care home in Scotland for the eighth consecutive year is an achievement we are extremely proud of. It reflects the consistency, compassion and commitment shown by our whole team, as well as the strong relationships we build with residents and families. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to leave a review, their feedback inspires us to continue delivering the very highest standards of care.”
