Residents and colleagues at HC-One’s Summerville Care Home in Warrington, Cheshire, were recently treated to a moving and heartfelt poetry session from Barbara Brittain, aged 87, a cherished resident.
Barbara kindly shared a selection of her own handwritten poems with Summerville residents and colleagues, which provided a moment of reflection and calm. She spoke warmly about how she began writing poetry during a difficult time in her life, when her mother was unwell.
Putting pen to paper provided her with a sense of comfort and connection. Now, her words continue to bring comfort to others.
