Windsor Court Care Home Celebrates National Arts in Care Homes DayHC-One’s Windsor Court Care Home in Wetherby joined care settings across the country in celebrating National Arts in Care Homes Day on 24th September with a fun and creative group project.

The National Day of Arts in Care Homes is a nationwide celebration coordinated by the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) that highlights and promotes the vital role of creativity in care settings. This year’s theme, “Going Green”, encouraged care homes to explore sustainability, nature, and reuse through artistic expression, whether by using recycled materials, drawing inspiration from the natural world, or crafting projects that reflect the colours, textures and spirit of growth and renewal.

The idea for the day’s activity came from one of Windsor Court’s residents, Margaret Williams, who suggested creating a giant collage. Residents and team members gathered materials including a recycled canvas, old greeting cards and magazines, and spent the afternoon cutting, arranging, and designing together. The result was a colourful, textured artwork that now proudly hangs in the home for everyone to enjoy.

The project sparked plenty of conversation, memories, and laughter along the way. Ann Conner and Bernie Toddington joined Margaret in shaping the collage, with residents reflecting on past hobbies and favourite colours as they chose images to include. The sense of teamwork and achievement was clear to see when the finished piece was revealed.

Windsor Court is part of over 280 HC-One homes across the UK, each dedicated to providing a kind and welcoming community for older people. New residents joining before 30th November 2025 can take advantage of a special offer: 4 weeks for the price of 3.
