care homes host Macmillan Coffee Mornings

Across the country this autumn, HC-One care homes have been raising their cups for a great cause by taking part in Macmillan Coffee Mornings, one of the UK’s best-loved annual charity events.

Residents, families, colleagues and local neighbours joined together for coffee, cake and conversation, all while helping to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support’s life-changing work helping people living with cancer and their families.

At Coppice Lodge care home in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, the team hosted a special Coffee Afternoon that filled the home with laughter and the smell of freshly baked treats. The lounge was transformed into a welcoming café where guests enjoyed tea, coffee and homemade cakes, contributing generously to the charity throughout the day. Coppice Lodge also held a Kitty Café Afternoon in partnership with the local cat rescue charity Meow and Furever, adding some furry fun to the festivities.

Home Manager Ken Buxton said:

“Cancer affects so many lives, and it means a lot to us to be able to give something back. Our residents loved being part of the fundraising and welcoming visitors into the home for such an important cause.”

In York, Ebor Court care home in Nether Poppleton earned donations through its Coffee Morning. The home was filled with the aroma of freshly baked cakes prepared by Head Chef Ian Munro, and the event brought together residents, families and colleagues in a morning of kindness and connection.

Lifestyle Manager Denise Cooper, who helped organise the event, shared:

“Having personally experienced cancer and received support from Macmillan, I truly understand how crucial fundraising is for this fantastic charity. It was such a pleasure to raise these funds.”

Meanwhile in Redditch, Millcroft care home hosted its own Macmillan Coffee Morning in the home’s Café, where residents and visitors had a wonderful day, with families and friends joining in to bake, donate and share stories together.

Home Manager Lyndsay Sard said:

“It was lovely to see our residents, families, and the local community come together. These events mean so much, they raise money for a cause close to many hearts and bring real joy and togetherness.”

Each event reflected what life in HC-One care homes is all about: kindness, connection and community.
