Five HC-One Colleagues from care homes across the UK have been shortlisted as finalists across a range of award categories by the judging panel at The Leaders in Care Awards 2022, in association with radar healthcare and Care Home Professional – Home Care Insight.
The Leaders in Care Awards celebrate the achievements of care providers in the UK and the suppliers that serve them.
HC-One’s finalists for The Leaders in Care Awards 2022 are:
• Ben Smith, Head Chef at Willow Court Care Home and Jodie Yates, Wellbeing Coordinator at Averill House Care Home, finalists in the Innovation in Care Award Category
Ben and Jodie have been shortlisted as a finalist due to showing that they are truly unsung heroes in the important roles that they carry out within their care homes. They both go above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Residents whilst also always thinking of innovative ways to boost morale and through showing kindness, dedication and empathy in every action they take.
• Janette Matias, Home Manager at Ballumbie Court Care Home and Kinga Kowaliczek, Home Manager at Greenways Court Care Home, finalists in the Registered Manager of the Year (North) Award Category
Janette and Kinga have both been shortlisted as a finalist due to their role in playing a key position with their care home. They have both set the tone for delivering high quality care and support to Residents, Relatives, Colleagues and others. Janette and Kinga lead their Colleagues through creating a kind and caring ethos and culture within their care homes.
• Rebecca Whitehead, Head of Care at Summerhill Care Home, finalist in the Leader of the Future Award Category
Rebecca has been shortlisted as a finalist in this category due to demonstrating that she is a rising star, possessing talent and the capability of enhancing and taking the care sector on to new heights.

The winners of The Leaders in Care Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony taking place at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham on the eve of the Care Show on Tuesday 11th October 2022 at 7pm. The gala ceremony will include a drinks reception followed by a three-course dinner and the presentation of 17 awards across a variety of categories to the country’s leading providers and suppliers across residential and domiciliary care.
