HC One MP care home visits summer 2025

Over the summer, HC-One care homes across England and Scotland welcomed a number of MPs for special visits, offering the chance to meet residents, tour facilities, and hear first-hand about the outstanding work taking place in our communities.

From Manchester to Glasgow, Leeds to Redditch, these visits provided valuable opportunities to discuss the issues that matter most to residents, colleagues and local communities – and to showcase the care, compassion and dedication at the heart of HC-One homes.

Lucy Powell MP visits Brookdale View care home in Manchester

On 5 August, Lucy Powell, MP for Manchester Central, visited Brookdale View Care Home in Newton Heath. She joined residents for “My Manchester Story” – a reminiscence activity featuring vintage photographs, objects and memorabilia – and enjoyed a tour of the home’s facilities. Lucy also promised a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament in the near future.

She said: “Karen and her team go above and beyond in caring for the residents and giving them a fulfilling and enjoyable quality of life.”

Maureen Burke MP visits Greenfield Park care home in Glasgow

On 25 July, Maureen Burke, MP for Glasgow North East, met residents and colleagues at Greenfield Park Care Home in Carntyne. She toured the 110-bed home, including its internet café, cinema, pub and landscaped garden, and spoke about recognising and supporting the work of carers.

She said: “It genuinely felt like a home – where residents are treated with dignity and respect and clearly enjoy a wide range of activities and entertainment.”

Mark Sewards MP visits Rievaulx House care home in Leeds

On 18 July, Mark Sewards, MP for Leeds South West and Morley, visited Rievaulx House Care Home in Armley. He toured the residential and dementia care home, met with residents and colleagues, and discussed the importance of social care reform.

He said: “We are fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring workforce in Leeds South West and Morley.”

Chris Bloore MP visits Millcroft care home in Redditch

On 25 July, Chris Bloore, MP for Redditch and the Villages, congratulated the team at Millcroft Care Home on their recent CQC report. He toured the cinema room, vintage tearoom, panoramic sky bar and garden room, and met resident Joan Partridge – a TikTok star at 103.

He said: “This is a place where residents are celebrated, supported and empowered to thrive.”

From heritage reminiscence sessions in Manchester to vibrant community spaces in Glasgow, Leeds and Redditch, these visits highlight the importance of strong relationships between care providers and local representatives – and the value of sharing resident voices in the future of social care.
