Seven HC-One Colleagues and teams from care homes across the UK have been shortlisted as finalists by the judging panel at the National Care Awards 2022.
The National Care Awards are returning for the 24th year and are organised by leading social care publication Caring Times Magazine. The awards celebrate and highlight excellence, rewarding those individuals who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care. The seven finalists were carefully chosen in recognition of their hard work, kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion they show day-to-day to ensure the people they support receive the best quality care.
HC-One’s finalists for the National Care Awards 2022 are:
• The Jack Dormand Wellbeing Team, finalists in the Care Team Award Category
Jack Dormand’s Wellbeing Team are committed to improving the support for Residents and others in their local community of Horden. The team enrolled in the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Awareness facilitator course and formed a steering group to become a dementia friendly community. They consult with many people across the community including GP practices and mental health groups to provide support to others.
• Pauline Gardiner, Senior Home Manager at Branston Court Care Home, finalist in the Dementia Care Manager Award Category
As a Registered Nurse with over 40 years’ experience, Pauline has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. Pauline’s passion is to strive for good quality and person-centred care for people living with Dementia. Pauline not only achieves this through HC-One’s policies and procedures, through doing her own networking and research but most importantly through talking to those who live with Dementia, through creating a League of Friends for Branston Court for the loved ones of those people who live with Dementia.
• Priorslee House Care Home, finalist in the Care Home Design of the Year Award Category
Priorslee House is a state-of-the-art, luxury care home located close to the popular residential areas of Priorslee and Snedshill. The design philosophy of the home is fit for the future and responds to the changing world we live in following the coronavirus pandemic. Considerable thought has been given to creating the safest possible environment with the latest cleaning and decontamination equipment to enable enhanced infection control.
• Lisa Morehead, Regional Director at HC-One, finalist in the Care Operations / Area Manager Award Category
In Lisa’s role, she is responsible for ensuring high quality standards are held throughout 57 care homes in the North East region. Lisa does this through developing and maintaining positive relationships with Home Managers, Local Authorities, CQC and other key stakeholders. Lisa ensures each home in the region she looks after has a vision and plan in place to promote the companies’ goals, ethos, and objectives.
• Victoria Meakin, Kitchen Manager at Aspen Court Care Home (Derby), finalist in the Care Chef Award Category
Victoria always ensures that the Residents at Aspen Court receive the very best possible standard of food, no matter what the Residents’ preferences are. This is evidenced by the effort and creativity she puts in, working closely with the wellbeing team, to develop theme nights to showcase their food in imaginative ways to make memorable occasions for Residents.
• Megan Harding, Bank Worker at Carr Gate Care Home, finalist in the Care Newcomer Award Category
Megan joined Carr Gate at 16 years old with no previous experience in a care setting but desperately wanted to work in care. Megan has shown true care, commitment and dedication in many roles within the home. Megan has worked as a Housekeeper, Kitchen Assistant, Wellbeing Coordinator, Receptionist and Covid Coordinator. No task is too big or small for her and she works well and professionally with her Colleagues.
• Marie Shillaw, Home Manager at Jack Dormand Care Home, finalist in the Care Home Manager Award Category
Marie supports the Residents to have the best life possible. She achieves this through having excellent relationships with the families. Marie enhances the quality of life of the Residents no matter what the day may bring. This has been on occasion sitting with someone at the very end of their life holding their hand and supporting their loved ones at the darkest times in an empathetic way.
The National Care Awards 2022 ceremony will be taking place on Saturday 26th November 2022 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, when the winners will be announced. HC-One are proud to sponsor the ‘Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year Award’ category at this year’s awards.
