HC-One summer outings 2025

Across HC-One care homes, residents and colleagues have been making the most of the summer sunshine with memorable trips to the seaside and beyond.

Our kind care teams recognise the benefits for residents in enjoying life outside of our care homes, and work closely with our wellbeing coordinators to ensure that residents maintain strong connections with their local communities, by arranging regular trips out to local sightseeing spots. Here’s just some of the visits our care homes have enjoyed to make the most of the summer sunshine in 2025:

At Church View care home in Caerphilly, residents joined with friends from Abermill care home for a minibus trip to Cardiff Bay. The group enjoyed strolling by the marina, taking in the history of the Senedd, and exploring the sights and sounds of the bay before rounding off the day with food, laughter and plenty of smiles.

Over in LeedsColton Lodges care home residents travelled to Scarborough for a day at the coast. From walks along the beach and promenade to playing in the arcades and enjoying classic fish and chips with ice cream, the trip sparked fond memories for many.

Betty, a resident at Colton Lodges, said:
“I never thought I would be on a beach again at 98 years old!”

Arthur, another resident, added:
“That sea breeze is great, it brings back all the memories.”

Meanwhile, residents at Eden House care home in Bishop Auckland enjoyed a seaside trip to Seaton Carew. With tea and biscuits by the shore, fish and chips for lunch, and ice creams to finish, the day was filled with seaside traditions. One resident summed it up by saying she felt like she was “on holiday.”

At HC-One, our colleagues truly believe in supporting residents to stay connected with the things they enjoy, while creating new memories together.
