HC-One victorious as winners of six prestigious awardsSix Colleagues working in HC-One care homes across the UK have been selected as winners at the Wigan Borough Palliative and End of Life Care Learning Hub Awards; the Regional East Midlands – National Apprenticeship Awards and the Celebrating Remarkable and Inspirational Stars, Teams And Leaders (CRISTAL) Care Awards 2022. 
The Wigan Borough Palliative and End of Life Care Learning Hub Awards 2022 took place on Friday 7th October 2022 at Leigh Sports Village, hosted by Wigan and Leigh Hospice. The awards evening provided the opportunity to celebrate the dedication and commitment of Colleagues working in care homes across the Wigan region who provide high quality palliative and end of life care to Residents and patients. 

HC-One’s winners of the Wigan Borough Palliative and End of Life Care Learning Hub Awards 2022 are:

•    Sarah Smith, Administrator at Ashton View Care Home, winner of the Non-Clinical Staff of the Year Award

Sarah, who started working at HC-One in 2008 as a Care Assistant and taken on the role of Home Administrator in 2017, was in receipt of the award in recognition of tirelessly supporting Residents and Relatives during particularly difficult times. Sarah goes above and beyond what is required and has good relationships with organisations in the community, such as the local hospice. 

•    Michelle Quinn, Nursing Assistant at Westwood Lodge Care Home, winner of the Nursing Assistant of the Year Award

Michelle Quinn joined Westwood Lodge Care Home in March 2016 in the position of Senior Care Assistant. Michelle has always been very keen to progress in her career and commenced her Nursing Assistant training within 18 months of starting at Westwood Lodge.
Michelle was successful in completing the Nursing Assistant qualification in 2019, with further career progression in 2022 when she was successful in becoming a Unit Manager.

In addition, Niall Hutton, Nursing Assistant at Capwell Grange Care Home was chosen as the winner of the ‘Rising Star Award’ by the judging panel at the prestigious Regional East Midlands - National Apprenticeship Awards 2022 on Wednesday 12th October 2022 at the Holiday Inn, Leicester. Niall now progresses to the national finalists judging stage and will find out if he is successful on the 1st November of proceeding to the National Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony taking place on the 30th November 2022 in London. 

Niall has really excelled within his role over the years, climbing the career pathway within HC-One. He has shown a great deal of dedication to Capwell Grange Care Home. Niall has put lots of new practices in place and used his personal time to research key areas affecting care homes. Niall takes the time to make sure that this is within individual care plans and works with the wider team at Capwell Grange to ensure Resident’s safety throughout their stay. He continues to put his time in to researching any new medications and Resident’s personal needs to understanding and upskilling his knowledge. He takes time to document this. From his time at Capwell Grange, he has progressed through many jobs and continues to showcase all of HC-One’s values.  

On Friday 14th October 2022 at an awards ceremony taking place at Dukinfield Town Hall, three Colleagues from HC-One care homes across Tameside and Glossop were successful in being announced as winners at the Celebrating Remarkable and Inspirational Stars, Teams And Leaders (CRISTAL) Care Awards 2022 which recognised and celebrated the personal, innovative and dedicated work of individuals who provide care to others in the area.
HC-One’s winners of the Celebrating Remarkable and Inspirational Stars, Teams and Leaders (CRISTAL) Care Awards 2022 are:

•    The team at Sandon House Care Home, winners of the Remarkable Quality Award 

The team at Sandon House strive to ensure a high quality of care is provided and this has positively benefited individuals, the care home and the wider sector. 

•    The team at Kings Park Care Home, winners in the Transformational Team Award 

The team at Kings Park Care Home embrace change and develop new ideas. They have a shared vision and set goals. The team encourages a positive culture within the care home.

•    The team at Holme Lea Care Home, winner of the Inspirational and Innovative Practice Award  

The team at Holme Lea Care Home work creatively to develop practice and challenge the normal through the use of technology and partnerships to develop intergenerational links within the local community.
