90th birthday celebrations at Gloucestershire care home

A Resident is today celebrating her incredible 90th birthday at HC-One’s Pennwood Lodge care home in Kingswood, Wotton-under-Edge.

At her request, Jeans Maggs enjoyed an understated jazz party with her fellow Residents and Colleagues. She was gifted a beautiful photo frame that showed off her most treasured memories, as well as a bouquet of flowers and a chocolate cake – her favourite.

Jean was born on February 16 1931 in Bristol and lived an incredible life of music, writing and travel. She worked as a writer for a jazz magazine and even published a book about her travels in America.

When asked what her secret to long life is, Jean replied: “No men!” Jean never married and enjoyed the single life. She now keeps company with her two nieces in America who stay in touch regularly through phone and emails.
