A beautiful canal trip at Alexander Court care homeResidents Annette, Tony and Zandra, of HC-One’s Alexander Court residential and nursing care care home, in Sheffield, had a brilliant time out on a barge trip through Swinton Lock today.

The sky stayed dry as they sailed through to Mexborough and towards Sprotborough. Residents were waving along to passing walkers and their dogs, and even witnessed a wedding!

Residents then tucked into some delicious sandwiches, provided by the home’s kitchen staff and free teas and coffees on the boat.

They chatted about the area, the lovely houses they saw, holidays and the wildlife. One brave swan wanted to say hello too!

Wellbeing Colleagues Aisling and Stewart took turns in steering the barge and turning it around.

Residents loved being out of the home and the change of scenery; “It's been lovely to have a trip out,” Resident Annette commented.

Zandra said, “I’'ve really enjoyed the fresh air!”

Jimitha Jacob, Care Home Manager, added, “It would be lovely to go again in the summer, and hopefully have more than one minibus to allow more Residents and staff to join.”
