Arthur Earnshaw, a Resident at
The Denby, residential and residential dementia care home, went on a very special birthday trip.
A visit to Elland Road, Leeds United Stadium, was organised for Arthurs 102nd birthday. Wellbeing Coordinator Iain and Bus Driver Steve took him for a personal visit with help from Sophie the Leeds United Physio.
Arthur went to his first match when he was 10 in 1930, he lived across from Elland Road and became a regular season ticket holder.
Arthur said, “I am very privileged to be able to do this and what a great we have had.”
The tour started off with a pitch side visit, then he got a chance to go down to the tunnel and out onto the pitch. From there Arthur was taken to look at the display room and trophy’s along with old shirts. At the end of the look round he was given a programme from the match the day after his birthday.
“Wow I would have never thought I would be in the tunnel, it is amazing”, said Arthur.
Iain also had a great day out with Arthur, he remarked, “His face said it all, he was taken back so many years chatting about players he could remember.”
Hannah Carrington, Care Home Manager, added, “We are so grateful for the team at Elland Road, it was great to see Arthur so happy.”
