Residents at
Acomb Court care home in Hexham have had lots of fun so far in October taking part in lots of new activities.
The minibus took some of the Residents on a trip to Allendale art gallery on the 18th October. Ron the bus driver, picked up William, Liz, Nancy, Sonia and Lisa and took them on a trip to Allendale.
They had a look around the art gallery, gift shop then stopped for a lovely lunch in the café. After lunch they all nattered whilst sitting in the Autumn sunshine, taking in the beautiful day.
The drive home was a highlight as the Residents took in the beautiful Northumbria countryside.
On the 20th of October, two furry friends trotted into the home. Two very friendly alpacas came along to visit the Residents. They had a tour of the care home meeting Residents both in the lounges and their bedrooms.
They were very well behaved and loved all the attention they were getting from the Residents. As some of the Residents had never seen an alpaca before they were delighted to stroke them and speak to their owners.
The Residents learned how the alpacas were sheared and what their wool was used for.
One Resident, commented, “I have never seen an Alpaca, I am thrilled. They are adorable and have made my day.”
A new activity was brought to the Residents as they took part in a Tia Chi class. Paul a Tia Chi instructor came along to the home to host a exercise class. It was a great opportunity to get everyone up and doing some gentle exercise
Paul’s sessions are very relaxing and keep the Residents moving. Tia Chi is very beneficial to the mind and body.
Kinga Kowaliczek, Care Home Manager, said, “The Residents have enjoyed taking part in lots of activities in October! They have been so busy having so much fun.”
